My CEO husband took the whole company on a private-jet trip. His secretary took my seat, and he let it happen. I smiled and got off. The crew bowed: “Ma'am, should we cancel the flight?” Seconds later, I made him lose face—and everything... When I stepped into the first class cabin of the private jet, I stopped cold. My usual seat beside my husband, Aaron, had been taken by Jasmine, his new secretary. She was leaning close to him, smiling as she casually fed him pieces of peeled orange. The moment Jasmine noticed me standing there, she let out an exaggerated gasp. She intentionally dropped the orange onto Aaron’s thigh, then immediately began rubbing at the spot in an overly dramatic way. “Oh! I’m so sorry, Mr. Prescott…” Aaron didn’t move her away. Instead, he looked straight at me with obvious irritation. “Why are you just standing there? Jasmine gets terrible airsickness. I told her to sit here. Go back to row five.” I stood frozen in front of his entire executive board. From behind me, my mother in law joined in, her voice dripping with contempt. “Alyssa, please. She was working for Aaron until three in the morning. The least you can do is be considerate and give her your seat.” To everyone aboard that jet, Aaron was a self made tech billionaire who had built his fortune from nothing, while I was merely his spoiled, wealthy socialite wife who contributed nothing. They had absolutely no idea what I had done for him. When his startup was on the verge of collapsing under a devastating financial crisis, I had secretly transferred $1.5 billion from my family trust to keep his company alive. I had also secured the thirteen essential patents that eventually became the foundation of his empire. I had spent years giving up what I wanted because I believed those sacrifices were part of loving him. Aaron, however, had slowly come to believe that everything I gave him was something he was entitled to receive. He stared at me coldly. “Alyssa, do you really have to create a scene in front of my team? Remember your place.” Something inside me finally broke. The last thread holding together four years of swallowing humiliation and calling it love finally snapped. I took one slow step backward, and a strangely calm smile appeared on my face. “I know exactly where I belong, Aaron,” I said, my voice smooth and controlled. “And I have absolutely no intention of fighting you over a seat.” Then I turned around and walked toward the exit. Everyone watching assumed I was leaving because I had been embarrassed and defeated. They thought I was simply accepting my husband’s decision and walking away with nothing. But they were wrong. I wasn’t merely walking off the plane. I was walking away from the entire life I had spent building for Aaron. And I was seconds away from pulling the trigger that would bring his carefully constructed world crashing down around him. Victoria froze mid-step. She whipped off her sunglasses, her eyes wide with shock as she stared at Julian. “Julian… what is she talking about?”

“It’s a mistake! Victoria, babe, listen to me—” Julian stammered frantically, reaching for her hand.

Victoria yanked her hand away as if he were contagious. She looked at the grand estate, then at the uniformed deputies, and finally back at the man who had promised her a life of luxury.

“You told me this house belonged to you,” Victoria whispered, her voice dripping with venom. “You told me your family owned this entire estate!”

Before Julian could answer, the side gate opened, and Tessa came running out, crying hysterically as security guards escorted her off the grounds with two small suitcases.

“Julian! They’ve locked the doors!” Tessa wailed. “They won’t let me back inside to get my jewelry!”

“Your personal belongings have already been packed and placed in those moving vans, Mr. Vance,” Evelyn stated coldly. “You have fifteen minutes to clear your personal vehicles off the premises before they are impounded.”

Victoria looked at Julian with utter disgust. “You’re a penniless fraud.”

She didn’t waste another second. She flagged down a passing taxi, threw her bags into the trunk, and sped away without looking back once.

Julian fell to his knees in front of the locked iron gates, staring at the legal papers lying on the pavement before him. He pulled out his phone and frantically dialed my number over and over again.

Miles away, in my quiet, sunlit hotel suite, I sat nursing Cora. I looked down at my phone as his name flashed across the screen for the twentieth time.

I didn’t answer. I simply swiped left, blocked his number forever, and held my daughter tight—knowing that our future was finally, completely ours.
