😱 I Was Still a Virgin at 26, and Dad Always Warned Me, “Stop Sitting on Grandpa’s Lap and Be Careful Around Him.” I Never Listened… Until Grandpa Came to Me One Night and Asked, “Will You Sleep Beside Me Tonight?” 💔

I was twenty-six years old and had never been intimate with a man.

It wasn’t something I was ashamed of. I had dated a little, but I had never met anyone I trusted enough to take that step with.

Strangely, my father seemed more concerned about the way I behaved around one particular man.

My grandfather.

Grandpa George had practically helped raise me.

When I was little, I followed him everywhere. Even after I became an adult, I would hug him, lean against his shoulder while we watched television, and sometimes jokingly sit on his lap for a photograph like I had done since childhood.

Dad hated it.

“Emily, enough,” he would say.

I would laugh.

“Dad, he’s Grandpa.”

“I know exactly who he is. Just be careful with him.”

That sentence always bothered me.

Be careful with him?

Grandpa George was seventy-nine, gentle, quiet, and probably the least frightening person I knew.

Whenever I asked Dad what he meant, he refused to explain.

“He’s getting older. That’s all.”

But sometimes his expression suggested it wasn’t all.

Grandpa noticed too.

One Thanksgiving, Dad saw me sitting on the arm of Grandpa’s chair with my legs partly across his lap.

“Emily. Move.”

Grandpa immediately looked away.

I stood up angrily.

Later I confronted Dad in the kitchen.

“What is wrong with you?”

His answer stunned me.

“One day you’ll understand why I keep telling you.”

After that, I began wondering whether there was some family secret nobody wanted to tell me.

Then, three months later, Grandpa came to our house unexpectedly.

It was almost nine at night.

Dad was upstairs.

Grandpa looked unusually serious.

“Emily,” he said quietly, “can I ask you something?”

“Sure.”

He looked toward the staircase before stepping closer.

“Will you sleep beside me tonight?”

I stared at him.

I honestly thought I had misunderstood.

“What?”

“Tonight,” he repeated. “At my house.”

My stomach tightened.

Then he said something that made it worse.

“Please don’t tell your father yet.”

I took one step backward.

“Grandpa… why?”

His eyes suddenly filled with something I couldn’t understand.

Fear.

“Because if he knows,” Grandpa whispered, “he won’t let you come.
