MY FIANCÉ DIED BEFORE OUR WEDDING — THREE MONTHS LATER, HIS MOTHER SAW ME AT ANOTHER WEDDING AND TRIED TO HIDE.

THEN I HEARD HIS VOICE THROUGH A DOOR. ADRIAN WAS ALIVE — IN HIS WEDDING SUIT — AND THEY’D LET ME MOURN HIM.

PART 1

My fiancé died before our wedding — three months later, his mother saw me at another wedding and immediately tried to hiden.

My name is Meredith, and Adrian and I were supposed to get married that summer. Then, six weeks before the wedding, he was killed in a car accident. Closed casket. I held his mother Colleen’s hand at the funeral as they lowered him into the ground.

I’m a florist. Three months later, I agreed to cover a wedding for a colleague who’d called in sick.

And there was Colleen, near the entrance. She saw me and tried to hide.

I followed her. A coordinator hurried over: “Mrs. Parker, the groom needs his mother.” I assumed it was Adrian’s brother Julian’s wedding.

Then I heard Colleen’s voice through the groom’s-room door. “The ceremony starts in twenty minutes.” A man answered — and it wasn’t Julian.
