Retirees: two payments scheduled in February, find out the amounts and dates concerned

Why this discrepancy?
Although the revaluation of pensions has been effective since January 1, 2025, its impact will only be felt in February. This delay is due to the administrative cycle of pension payments.

Note: Depending on your bank, the transfer may appear with a slight delay. The Pension Insurance specifies:

“We pay your pension to your bank on the 9th of each month. If the 9th is a Saturday, Sunday or public holiday, we pay it on the first working day before or after that. »

How much will you receive from the revaluation?

The 2.2% increase concerns only the basic pension. To better understand the real impact on your pension, take a concrete example:
A retiree in the private sector receiving €1,400 in pension in 2024:

Supplementary pension: €
420 Basic pension: €980With the 2.2% increase applied to the basic pension, this pensioner will benefit from an additional €21.56 on his or her payment on 7 February.

A boost, but not enough?
While this increase is good news, it remains modest in the face of the growing expenses of retirees. Between rising energy, food and medical care prices, many are still struggling to maintain a comfortable standard of living.

What kind of retirement to live with dignity?

According to experts in the social economy, a pensioner would need between €1,500 and €2,000 per month to live temporarily.

This would imply a salary of around €2,500 during his career to hope to reach this level of pension.

However, the average pension in France is around €1,400, with strong disparities according to careers and status.

Small increases allow for a slight gain, but are not enough to compensate for inflation and the loss of purchasing power.

However, this little extra can be useful for:

Cover additional costs (health, food, energy).

Indulge occasionally.

Helping children and grandchildren.

Towards an uncertain future for pensions?

While the 2.2% increase brings a slight improvement, the future of pensions in France remains uncertain. Between the financing of the system and the debates on the retirement age, pensioners scrutinise each budget announcement carefully.
What to remember? Two payments in February: the 3rd (supplementary) and the 7th (base with increase).

A 2.2% increase applied since January, but received in February.

A limited impact on purchasing power, but a little extra is always appreciable.
